RAINBOW MAN, Chapter 22
A serialized novel by best-selling author David W. Berner
Welcome to Rainbow Man, a serialized novel about a grieving widower who travels to Spain to find solace and restart a life only to find himself entangled in the counterculture past of a younger woman.
Summary of Chapter 21: Inside the quiet room in Zujaira, Chloe prepares for her fate.
From the tall open window of her room, where long white curtains hung to the floor, Chloe could see the mountains. The misty light of the falling sun had turned the hills into giant shadows across the horizon. Outside and below her second-floor space, she heard voices in Spanish—a man and a woman, whispering and then giggling, lovers who had been to the house’s other side to watch the sunset and had come now to the east side to steal away in the coming dark. The voices were sweet and happy, and they had allowed Chloe to forget for a moment.
